We successfully bought groceries (they deliver to the pier for free - yay) and confirmed that there was indeed a 12pm shared public boat going over to Zancudo. Whew. C3,000 ($5) each instead of $60 for a private boat! I think we had probably already missed the one public bus that goes over there each day.

What an awesome boat ride. Because the tide was high enough, we were able to go via the manglar (mangrove swamp) and it was so pretty. We saw herons and egrets. Lynn was really freaked out with how fast he was going but it seemed normal to me. I mean it's transportation, not a sightseeing tour. She did apparently see a bit of a dolphin dive under but that's it.
What a nice ride over to Zancudo through the manglar.

That's our boat and those are our boxes of groceries that the supermarket hauled over there for us. Love that service!

Our first look at the new digs.

We were picked up at the pier by Susan's worker David who drove us to the rental house. The house is just awesome. We settled in, had a glass (or maybe a bottle) of wine, and learned the ways of the area like putting our sign out front (that says "Emilio Sí" on Saturday and Wednesday mornings if we want the produce guy (Emilio) to stop. He stops at the road if your sign is out and honks his horn. OMG we bought such wonderful things out of his truck. Delish avocado, papaya, bananas (for the monkeys and iguanas too), zucchini, etc. Kind of fun too!

We hadn't been here an hour when a scarlet macaw flew over. WOW!! I'm so obsessed with getting a photo of them. It seems an impossible task but I'll keep trying. Our second morning here the iguanas and monkeys made a showing too. I saw the iguana (Fred, apparently) so went inside to throw some chunks of banana to him (on recommendation of the owner). On my way to the beach to tell Lynn, I saw a monkey. Okay, the rest of the bananas on my plate go on the monkey platform then. Holy crap they ran right up on me! haha! Then I went to the house to get more bananas and they came up on the deck. Yikes. I'm not so sure about that.
Yay - I finally captured them! I was so satisfied that I got this.

But then I got THIS! A bit better. :) They land in the almond trees and eat the nuts.

Eeks they ran right up on me as soon as I put the bananas down!

We also put out slices of papaya on the bird platform and have seen so many pretty birds come dine on it. I'm not even that into birds but I'm loving taking so many photos of them! There are also tons of birds of prey and pelicans out at the beach.
The little woodpeckers love the papaya.

The beach is totally deserted! None of the development is too close to the water either so if we go for a walk, it's hard to tell where in the trees to turn into our house. The water is amazingly warm but it's typical Pacific water. Not tropical turquoise or anything. And apparently we're here during the largest swell and highest tide. So much driftwood being washed up on shore. There's garbage mixed in, but nothing too extreme. Not like Bali!

I'm really looking forward to my time here. :)

Maybe another celebratory beer under the palapa. :)
