Not natively a tipping culture, tourism has led to "Baksheesh" being commonly asked for but can be refused at any time. Tipping has unfortunately become almost expected in tourist areas. It should always be done in a low-key manner. Use tipping as a true "thank you" rather than a "must do".

Restaurants:
Tipping is generally not expected unless an upscale restaurant. Then tip 5 - 10% for or just the loose change unless the service charge is already on the bill. Do not tip at street stalls.
Taxis:
For pre-agreed upon taxi or rickshaw rates, no tip is expected. Otherwise round up the fare to nearest 10 rupee.
Tours:
100 - 300 rupees per day for private guides depending on how good they are. For group tours, you can tip your guide 30 - 50 rupees.
Other:
For personal services such as beauty you can tip up to 5%. 20 rupees for someone who helps you with your luggage.
